PUNKY GIBBON: Ultra-obsessives who simply can't get enough Ant should check out this three-CD set housed in a 7" box containing a 66-page booklet. It has choice cuts from all of his albums, and a myriad of unreleased oddments. While it would have been nice to have the single version of 'Young Parisians' instead of a demo, the other 1977 Decca demos - Rubber People', 'Bathroom Function', 'Boil In The Bag Man', 'Song For Ruth Ellis' and 'Hampstead' - are scintillating if you don't have them on bootlegs. There are also versions of 'Catch a Falling Star' and 'Fat Fun', Peel Sessions, and an alternate take of 'Kings Of The Wild Frontier'. And that's just disc one. Sadly, despite the inclusion of demo versions of 'Stand and Deliver' and the 'A.N.T.S.' flexi, by the time we're halfway through disc two we're onto garbage like 'Goody Two Shoes' and 'Strip', and disc three - presenting a whole raft of solo efforts - is even worse.

Additional Notes

The 2000 version comes in a 7" single size box; the 2003 reissue is a more normal CD-sized affair.
