Liner notes:

After "Still From The Heart", a perfect pop album but bad Angelic Upstarts LP, the bands contract with EMI came to an abrupt end and it seemed ages before they signed to Cherry Red's Punk label Anagram. During this label-less period the Upstarts decided to go ahead with recording what would have been their fifth studio album.

The studio tracks on this album are taken from those doomed sessions and feature the classic Upstarts line up of Mensi on vocals, Mond on guitars, Glyn on bass and Decca Wade on drums.

Although mainly unreleased some of the tracks were retitled and re-recorded for inclusions on the lacklustre "Last Tango In Moscow" LP but the versions included here are far superior. The five live tracks included here were recorded at the infamous Main Event gig at London's Astoria with an Upstarts line up of Mensi on vocals, Brain Hayes on guitar, Ronnie Rocker on bass and Max Splodge on drums, the same line up that recorded the controversial "Blood On The Terraces" album.

Reviews & Opinions

PUNKY GIBBON: More demos and live rubbish. 'The Tut Shuffle' (surely the punk equivalent of 'My Old Man's A Dustman') and 'Calypso' are studio muckarounds that practically scream to be binned. And they were. (Actually, 'The Tut Shuffle' is good fun.) The remaining demos are what one would expect (inferior versions of tracks already available) and the live stuff is totally mundane and doesn't even have the decency to be well-recorded. Definitely for completists only.
