PUNKY GIBBON: A new low for Miss Bane. 'Wish I Could Be Me' is an insipid disco/funk workout with synthetic drums and slap bass (including a ghastly elongated solo), and trite lyrics that recall nothing so much as Toyah's 'I Want To Be Free'. And the 12" includes a "Club Version" that goes on for more than six excruciating minutes! Yeuch! 'Childhood Prince' is no better: an over-produced piece of pap with a klutzy horn section and a really weak chorus.
