PETER DOGGETT, RECORD COLLECTOR, 1993: Hardcore but certainly not thrash, Chron Gen's 1985 live album reveals some alarming signs of musical ability beneath the no-holds-barred punk attack. 'Maximum Rock'n'Roll' fanzine survives today as testimony to the continued popularity of U.K. hardcore in the States, where Chron Gen probably have a stronger cult following than they do here. The band made few concessions to their audience, powering tirelessly through low-fi renditions of 'Lies', 'Wasted Love', 'Nowhere To Run' and the rest, before ending with an all-out assassination of New World's pop hit, 'Living Next Door To Alice'. The dodgy sound of this set restricts its appeal to fanatics, however.

The record is titled "Live In L.A." on the labels, for some reason. The CD is titled 'Live At The Waldorf' on the spine and disc. All track timings taken from the CD.
