Reviews & OpinionsPUNKY GIBBON: The band at its absolute best, a rip-roaring A-Side with one of the most frantic bass intro ever, a barnstorming chorus, and hilarious lyrics as required for a punk rock love song ("I'll be the rubbish, you'll be the bin"). Both B-Sides are excellent, too. 'Love Song' and 'Noise, Noise, Noise' were subsequently re-recorded for Machine Gun Etiquette. A classic single.
The 1979 version was issued in four covers, one with each member of the band. It was also issued on red vinyl. To complete the set, therefore, you need to but it eight times! Alternatively, you could just buy it once. The Big Beat version is a very slight remix, and it too came in multiple sleeves (just three, though, as Algy was no longer in the band), and came on either blue or black vinyl. This remixed version was also issued again by Big Beat in 1985 in three sleeves, but black vinyl only.
