EXTREMES

Formed: Santa Monica/Los Angeles, California, USA

Synth punk/new wave combo which existed between 1977 and 1980, initially as Mess, then Raw Option, and finally Extremes. They were led by Mark and Shawn Stern, who later catapulted themselves to hardcore punk fame in Youth Brigade. Their brother Adam was also involved at one stage, as was Jay Lansford (Child Abuse/The Simpletones) and Robert Lopez (The Zeros). Maicol "Bobby" Sinatra (aka Michael Shwartz) carried on down the synth-wave route as part of Christian Lunch and Food Shelter, and Christian Kuhni seemed to vanish. Their one EP is good fun, and worth checking out, especially for fans of groups like Devo, The Residents etc.
