FLEX! HARDCORE: Two calmer instrumentals on side A, lots of acoustic guitars etc., almost sounds like “emo core”. Not bad at all, though. B side has the usual fast paced HC and the atonal voice. One of the better JFA releases.

STEVE SPINALI, MAXIMUM ROCKNROLL #37, JULY 1986: JFA present two lackluster instrumentals on one side of this EP, but the showcase for this band's talents, "Desert Jewel," demonstrates adeptness at a diverse punk approach: a haunting intro, bright guitars, and impassioned vocals make for their best track in a long time. Very good.
