Reviews & Opinions

JACK RABID, TROUSER PRESS: The much-improved Notes from the Underground leaves hardcore behind for a pretty fair Damned/TSOL-influenced punk LP with occasional acoustic guitar and even sax (on an anti-apartheid song). The hooks are occasionally a little too obvious, but "Another Day," "Write Myself a Letter" and "Shadows of My Life" are first-rate punk-pop. Nick Adams' wall of guitar dominates each of the ten tracks.

MARTIN SPROUSE, MAXIMUM ROCKNROLL #32, JANUARY 1986: Sad but true, a once great band has drifted towards the wimp side. Ten glamor pop-punk songs are drastically different from any of the band's previous material. I hate to say it, but this album is a real let-down!! It would be interesting to see how the band would pull these cheesy songs songs off live. No longer "Music in Action" -- now it's music in limbo!
