PUNKY GIBBON: This needs no introduction. Fourteen songs recorded as basically as humanly possible, with the guitar in one channel, drums and bass in the other, and vocals in the middle, all merging into one wicked wall of lo-fi noise. Clinton Heylin in his book From The Velvets To The Voidoids put it best; "seemingly Neanderthal chants, every song stripped of embellishment beyond drilling guitars and repetitively abrupt lyrics". They're all here, folks: 'Blitzkrieg Bop', 'Beat On The Brat', 'Judy Is A Punk', 'I Don't Wanna Go Down To The Basement', 'I Don't Wanna Walk Around With You', 'Loudmouth', '53rd & 53rd' etc. And it's still funny after all these years. The Warner/Rhino reissue from 2002 is remastered and adds some demos and the single remix of 'Blitzkrieg Bop.' The 40th Anniversary edition is even more lavish.
