Reviews & Opinions

PUNKY GIBBON: Opening with the blistering popcore of 'O.C. Life' and maintaining the pace with confident-sounding rockers such as 'One Shot' and '10', this impressive debut offers some stylistic variation in the shape of the mildly psychedelic ‘Everyday’ and the messy but enthusiastic multi-part epic 'Section 8'. Fittingly it has also been reissued on CD as a bonus to the Adolescents’ first LP, which it often resembles. Great stuff.

TROUSER PRESS: ...a nifty one-man solo album of enjoyable loud pop and demi-punk songs played with spunk and variety. Despite clumsy lyrics and rudimentary production, All By Myself proves that Agnew's budding abilities were not likely to be restrained by any simple genre formula.

TIM YOHANNAN, MAXIMUM ROCKNROLL, NOVEMBER 1982: This LP...has all the pitfalls of the decaying rock scene of the early 70s - overproduction, solo instrumentation, sappy love songs, and self-indulgence to the max. I hope this doesn't bode ill for the future direction of the L.A. punk scene. The lyrics are either romantic, tragic or suicidal - Leonard Cohen all over. The weakest release on the normally strong Frontier label.
