Reviews & Opinions
PUNKY GIBBON: This disc is particularly startling in charting the band’s transformation from raw-throated guttersnipes to keyboard-laden pop brainiacs. A great collection of material, standouts are the incendiary ‘Razors In The Night’, the poppy ‘New Age’/’Fatigue’ single, the latter of which first introduced piano into the equation, and a dub version of ‘Bleed’ which isn’t as bad as it may sound. ‘Telecommunication’ and ‘Solar’ resemble a cross between New Order and The Damned at their Gothiest, and sound pretty good, suggesting a blossoming of genuine songwriting skill. Excellent music (mainly) but typically shoddy packaging on the CD - a four page booklet is all you get. Unfortunately, this is hardly complete: there is nothing from the 'Propaganda' flexi, nothing from the New Breed EP, and you don't even get the 7" version of 'Solar'.
