Reviews & Opinions

PUNKY GIBBON: Throughout 75-77 he released and recorded continually. Some songs were discarded or only issued in foreign territories, but mostly they were very entertaining. This compilation, features many of these rarities, along with liner notes by the man himself. Bizarrely titled considering he never really made it out of the wilderness, it rounds up such gems as 'Lets Go To The Disco’, ‘Bay City Rollers We Love You’ and ‘Halfway To Paradise’, three-quarters of his Bowi EP, the original version of ‘Heart Of The City’ (B-Side of ‘So It Goes’), both sides of the Dutch-only single ‘Keep It Out Of Sight’, the incestuous ‘I Love My Label’ (from the A Bunch Of Stiffs comp) and a brace of songs that appear to have been in the vaults since they were recorded. For a collection of such eclectic origins it makes for a hugely enjoyable fifty minutes, and is actually a good place to start for those unfamiliar with his music.
