Reviews & Opinions

PUNKY GIBBON: Comp supposedly rounding up all of the band's recordings for Clay records. Some of the songs, however, are definitely different to the ones originally released on the original Clay singles: 'Wolf At The Door' is much smoother (and about 40 seconds shorter), and 'This Dirty Town' just sounds completely different. Both sides of the 'Frankenstein Again' have been more subtly remixed. The 7" version of 'Let's Dance Now (No Time To Be Strangers)' is also absent. All of these "missing" songs can be found on The Punk Singles Collection. Half of the material recorded during this period is good rollicking fun ('Drag You Out' and 'Heroin It's All Over' especially) but the dance-orientated 'Let's Dance Now' is just bizarre and doesn't work, especially in its five-minute extended remix/dub version!!

RECORD COLLECTOR, 1990: The Lurkers' album apparently features several unreleased tracks recorded around the time the band released 'Dirty Town' as a single on Clay in 1982, and will no doubt be of interest to fans of the band, although the music music compare to their earlier recordings for Beggars Banquet.
