Reviews & Opinions

GREGG TURNER, BACK DOOR MAN, SEPTEMBER-OCTOBER 1976: And speaking of urban grease, the Ramones' 'Blitzkrieg Bop' s an item you shouldn't lose any sleep over. It's the best tune off an unbelievably tedious and unnecessary album. If lead-singer Joey Ramone wasn't so preoccupied with sporting a particularly nauseatingly pseudo-limey drawl, 'Bop' might even be tolerable. As it stands, the song is disappointing and the first black mark to blemish the heralded "NY scene". [Punky Gibbon note: Gregg Turner is the very same Greegg Turner who later played in Angry Samoans.]

Additional Notes

Although both songs are the same recordings as the LP versions, 'Blitzkrieg Bop' is presented in a slightly different mix. There are also copies of the US single with a mono mix of the A-Side (the label states "mono"). The US version also spells the A-Side "Blitzkreig Bop".
