Reviews & Opinions

PUNKY GIBBON: Pointless live LP, recorded in 1979.

RECORD COLLECTOR, 1993: Gary Holton, Slaughter and the Dogs and Chelsea - three acts from the Seventies without a hit between them. But I guess someone out there loves them, or else no-one would take the trouble to unearth tapes that ought to have been consigned to oblivion years ago. Slaughter and the Dogs at least had some redeeming features. Either that, or I'm just over familiar with 'Boston Babies' and 'Runaway' on 1977's The Roxy Club album [The Roxy London WC2 (Jan - Apr 77)], and confusing nostalgia with objectivity. On this showing (a live LP plus an interview with Mick Rossi spread over two sides of long playing vinyl), I'm inclined to wipe away that tear, pull myself together, and pronounce that this one's for fans only.

Additional Notes

The Receiver LP adds an interview disc. Reissued on CD as part of a twofer, Where Have All The Bootboys Gone?
