Reviews & Opinions

STEVE BUSH, SMASH HITS, NOV 1-14, 1979: The pic sleeve is made to look like the front page of a newspaper ("The Angelic Times") - an idea that is incredibly unoriginal and boring. Which is also an accurate description of the record.

MUCK RAKER, ROCK BOTTOM, 1981: A singularly unattractive band from the North east of England indulge in the primal punk thrash, seemily [sic]on the subject of a deprived youth who is shot in some urban fracas.

PUNKY GIBBON: Yet another great A-Side - fast, ranting and angry, and somehow catchy despite the borderline tuneless verses. 'Nowhere Left To Hide' is standard Upstarts fare, and not one of their finest moments: it sounds like they were specifically asked by the label to write a B-Side.

Additional Notes

The main track ended up as the opening cut on their 2nd LP.
