Reviews & Opinions

PUNKY GIBBON: Although inconsistent, this classic debut includes some of their best songs, as well as a great roughed-up version of 'The Young Ones'. Side One is excellent, ending with 'Liddle Towers' (apparently a re-recording, not that you could tell), but Side Two is a little weaker, with a couple of songs that are a bit below standard. Still, a good romp.

PUNK 77: ...lacklustre. While the I'm An Upstart/Leave Me Alone single sounds great the rest of the album sounds weakly produced. Mensi is on great form with the usual subjects close to his heart - the police, the downtrodden, students, anger and growing up all delivered with that impassioned roar of his set to the Upstarts metal punk riffarama. Picks - 'We Are The People' and 'Student Power'. I don't mean to sound negative - its a good album but it could have been exceptional.

SHANE BALDWIN, RECORD COLLECTOR, 2003: ...too many tracks plod.... [read full review here]

Additional Notes

The Captain oi! reissue gets 'Never Again' & 'We Are The People' in wrong sequence on disc (but not packaging). It is also mastered from vinyl.
