Reviews & Opinions
PUNKY GIBBON: The essential Angry Samoans album: they play louder and much faster than the debut, slamming through the fourteen snappy cuts at hardcore velocity. Oh, and they're A LOT more obnoxious and libelous as well, if you can believe that. 'They Saved Hitler's Cock' and the impossibly rude 'Ballad Of Jerry Curlan' (co-written by Jeff Dahl) are standouts, but the whole shebang is an absolute blast, and is without doubt one of the best punk albums of the 80s.
JEFF BALE, MAXIMUM ROCKNROLL, NOVEMBER 82: The best garage punk album of the year. The Samoans have once again produced a brilliant amalgam of 60s punk, 80s punk, and heavy metal. The punchy uptempo sound, buttressed by three guitars and extremely belligerent mid-60s lead vocals, is so dense that it's well-nigh impenetrable, but it's the Samoans' exceptionally retarded sense of humour that really accounts for their perverse appeal. This brain-damaged approach is vastly better than the commercialised punk and self-conscious Satanic crap which currently dominates the L.A. scene, so don't miss out.Additional Notes
