Reviews & Opinions
PUNKY GIBBON: Often cited as an anarcho classic, this is heavily indebted to Conflict but the songs are longer and less imaginative, usually just comprising simple guitar chords repeatedly endlessly while some inarticulate guy shouts, rants and jabbers over the top. Powerful production (as usual for music recorded at Southern) and sledgehammer white-noise guitars asides, this gets pretty boring if you ask me, and - despite some occasionally interesting musical interludes (as on the reflective instrumental 'A Midsummer Night's Dream') - at 45 minutes it's far too long. Also, there's a complete absence of humour, preachiness of lyric, and predictability of subject (war, education, consumerism, animal rights, government) that makes it "of its time".Additional Notes
