Reviews & Opinions

GARRY BUSHELL, SOUNDS, APRIL 1982: What experts call a bona fide lotta bottle sore-throat stormer, or indeed, a ferocious generation war cry. Hulk-like opening chords flex mighty muscles as they surge inexorably into the meat and two veg of the song proper.

JEFF BALE, MAXIMUM ROCKNROLL #1, JULY 1982: Representative English punk circa 1982, with gruff Oi-influenced vocals grafted onto a typical punk background. "No Escape" is fucking hot, the rest merely ordinary.

PUNKY GIBBON: The title cut is the best thing this band ever did, although whether that's down to the raunchy production and Gary's snarling, impassioned growl or the song itself is a matter for debate, although 'Today's Generation' was probably their best song too. The other cuts are much worse, 'Hell' plodding miserably and 'No Escape' battling it out with a curious production which puts the vocals well and truly to the fore.
