Reviews & Opinions

PUNKY GIBBON: ‘Saturday's Heroes' itself is real meathead stuff, the heroes being footer hoolies, but amid the typically defiant likes of ‘All Out Tonight' and ‘Nothing Can Stop Us' they make a point of showing their sensitive side on ‘Foreign Girl', a love song (of all things), and a political bent on the superb 'Spanish Jails'. Throughout, the band exhibit all the subtlety of a rampaging mob, with walloped drums and guitar heroics from Steve Whale. Great stuff.

PAT GILBERT, RECORD COLLECTOR, 1994 [reviewing the original 1994 CD issue on Captain Oi!]: The latest CD reissue on Mark Brennan's year-old Oi! label, 'Saturdays Heroes' (no apostrophe, cos it ain't kool to spell rite} was originally released by the Harry May Recording Company, and features a late-era Business line-up (with Brennan himself on bass) running through an accomplished set of simple, chiming street-punk songs. Five bonus tracks have been added this time around, including a version of Sham 69's 'Hurry Up Harry'.
