Reviews & Opinions

RED STARR, SMASH HITS, MAY 1979: Pick of the week: Unlike Bowie, Ian Dury's waited till he's built up some really strong material before releasing his album. This is very different to 'New Boots And Panties' but just as good - more jazz funk than rock'n'roll with the Blockheads in shining form, while Dury's lyrics are more personal and oblique than music hall. Gets better with every play - genius at work! Best trax: 'Inbetweenies', 'Sink My Boats'. (9 out of 10.)
