Credits

Produced & engineered by Spot and Hüsker Dü
Recorded & mixed at Total Access, Rondo Beach, CA, October 1983

Bob Mould - electric & acoustic guitars, lead & bk vocals, percussion, piano
Greg Norton - bass, bk vocals
Grant Hart - drums, lead & bk vocals, percussion, piano
Bob played bass on 'Turn On', and piano on 'Trips', 'One Step', 'Industry' and 'Monday'
Grant played piano on 'Trips', 'What's Goin', 'Standing', and 'Monday'
Dez sang on 'What's Goin', and other folks sang on 'Turn On'.
Whoever wrote the songs sings it, except for 'Somewhere' which Grant wrote words for.
Reoccurring Dreams' is live to track, no overdubs or funny stuff.
Everything on the record is first-take, except for 'Something I Learned Today' & 'Standing By The Sea', which started too fast.
Spot did the yell on 'Standing By The Sea', and we all threw chairs during track 'Pride'
Grant did all the stuff to 'Hare Krsna' and Bob did all the stuff on 'Tooth Fairy'.
There were only two out-takes from these sessions, 'Dozen Beats Eleven' and 'Some Kind Of Fun'.
The whole thing took about 85 hours, the last 40 hours straight for mixing.
Carducci wants another album already, but not another double LP.

Reviews & Opinions

TIM YOHANNAN, MAXIMUM ROCKNROLL #15: JULY 1984: A totally impressive release! Most bands have a hard enough time putting out a single album without filler, but these guys have managed to fill all four sides here with catchy, powerful, and musical songs . . . . real songs. The singing wails, the Oriental psych guitars shine, and the rhythm crunches. It also sounds as if they've been listening to the psychedelic-period BYRDS lately, because there are a few reversed tracks for instrumental background included. Tremendous!
