Formed: Crawley, Sussex, England, UK
Unsung fourth division punks, Lockjaw began life as The Guernsey Flowers and then The Amazing Doctor Octopuss.
They recorded two singles, both for Raw. The first of these is funny and entertaining MOR punk with no standout features, and the shambolic destruction of 'The Young Ones' on the flipside still makes me smile. Journalist Jive, issued in 1978, is in no way memorable.
Their continued claim to fame is that Simon Gallup was in the band before going on to The Cure, and his older brother Dave wrote 'Radio Call Sign'. Apart from that, they were probably the worst of all the punk bands on Raw, but I still like them anyway.
Lineup:
Gary Bower (Bo Zo) - vocals
Stuart Hinton (Micky Morbid) - guitar on 1st single
Steve Mushroom - guitar on 2nd single
Simon Gallup (Andy Septic) - bass
Martin Ordish (Oddy Ordish) - drums
