Another great and completely obscure punk band from the first wave. They came from the Wirral where they were the premier (possibly only) punk band playing numerous pub and club gigs with a heavy local following, at a time when it was genuinely dangerous to be a punk band playing pub gigs. Played several gigs at the legendary Eric’s Club in Liverpool and supported John The Postman in Manchester.
Bassist David Balfe and guitarist Alan Gill went on to Top Ten success a few years later with The Teardrop Explodes (and many subsequent musical adventures).
The Mary Whitehouse E.P. is a live recording which shows that they were a ferocious-sounding combo with fine songs. Proper punk! God I wish there was more of it that just these four tunes.
Many thanks to Dave Balfe for the heads up and information, and Love Child Records for releasing this one.
