Oi! band which existed between 1985 and 1988. Well, they started off as an Oi! band, making their vinyl debut on 1986's Oi! - The Resurrection with the fast-paced 'Self Respect', a pretty good if overlong Oi! ditty. Another song recorded at the same time, 'Never Change' was finally issued on Oi! The Demos. After this, they chose to ignore their own advice and changed direction, opting for a zippy, upbeat ska/punk/pop sound, complete with horns and keys, which bores me to my bones. Fans of Less Than Jake or The Mighty Mighty Bosstones might like More Than Skin-Deep more than I did.
They should not be confused with the Scottish skinhead band Skin Deep, who released the wonderful Football Violence EP in 1985. I'd much rather listen to their entertaining nonsense than Skin-Deep's boring hoping-for-the-mainstream stuff.
