Lightning

Based: London, England, UK

Dodgy somtimes-indie (they had a distribution deal at times with WEA). Lightning alternated dubiously talented punk bands (many of which sounded like thinly disguised rock bands) with reggae acts. To be fair, some of the punk stuff was pretty good: The Jerks, Snatch, Martin & The Brownshirts. Scored a massive No. 1 hit with the reggae classic 'Up Town Top Ranking' by Althia & Donna.
