LARRY WALLIS

Based: London, England, UK

Fresh out of Motörhead (okay, maybe not so fresh, given that band's personal hygiene), former Pink Fairy Larry Wallis recorded this one-off single for Stiff and appeared at the bottom of the label's first (and best) package tour, propping up Wreckless Eric, Ian Dury, Nick Lowe and Elvis Costello. 'Police Car' is a mid-speed rock song with enough contemporary punch to make it a memorable new wave release. The B-Side is a Motörhead tune originally recorded for their as-yet unreleased debut album: this sounds like a punkier version. Overall, good stuff.

In addition to this, Wallis also gained his punk credentials via production work for The Adverts and Wreckless Eric. 'Police Car' was later covered by The Members.
