Reviews & Opinions
PUNKY GIBBON: A 26-track round-up of all their 45's and 12”'s on one handy CD, beginning with 'Harry May' and ending with ‘Anywhere But Here', and taking care to include both sides of their unreleased ‘Law And Order' single from 1983. The early material is vivacious and funny, including knockout novelty numbers like ‘Step Into Christmas' and the Chas ‘n' Dave-esque ‘Get Out Of My House'. About halfway through the tempos fall away, which is not a problem in itself because the songs are better, but alongside ‘Smash The Discos' and ‘Harry May', tracks like ‘No Emotion' and ‘Do A Runner' (a rather tired ditty about dodging bills), sound slightly ploddy. The final single, 1993's ‘Anywhere But Here' is an unmitigated disaster which sounds like a demo. However, given the amount of good material, and certainly the scarcity of the original vinyl singles, it is recommended.Additional Notes
