Reviews & Opinions

PUNKY GIBBON: The Skids bowed out on a very strange note with this wistful, soaring ballad in praise of the island Iona, a tiny island off the southwest coast of Mull in the Inner Hebrides. The A-Side is an edited version of the song from Joy. The label on some copies has it at 3:20 long, while "corrected" labels have it at its length at 4:55 when it's actually 5:07. Anyone lucky enough to own the LP could listen to a 7:15 version of this song! The B-Side is a completely different (and much worse) version to the recording on Joy. I like 'Iona' but it's a very long way from the punky spit of 'Charles' or 'The Saints Are Coming'.
